My ex wanted to make out with me last night?

So last night I went to the movies with a bunch of friends and my ex came too because we still talk and hangout sometimes.. But when I was at the movies I sat next to my best friend and my ex was on the other side of her. He kept asking her to switch seats because he wanted to make out with me. But he was saying that he doesn't like me but he wants to make out with me anyways. So when my best friend asked to switch seats I said no because I'm not like that and I was kinda pissed that he said that... But why would he do that?
