My ex said he had me fooled (that he was in love with me) so how will i ever be able to know if it's real?

sounds to me like he still cares for you. I don't know if he still "Loves" you, but no one who doesnt care would make a statement like that. that's hurtfull and uncalled for. Just ignore him. who cares what he thinks or feels. he's obviously a childish loser. No mature human would say something like that.
